About
Browser-based live coding environment for networked visuals, with audio reactivity through FFT input.
Hydra is a video synthesiser you play by writing short chains of JavaScript functions in the browser. Inspired by analogue modular synths, it combines oscillators, shapes, noise, webcam and screen inputs through four output buffers, rendering everything with WebGL.
Audio reactivity comes from the built-in audio object: microphone input is analysed into FFT bins that can modulate any parameter, with adjustable cutoff and smoothing. Hydra is widely used at algorave and live-coding performances and is licensed under the AGPL 3.0.
